Moody elegance is the feeling I get from this latest jewelry sculpture. Inspired by the antique brass base of three dragons holding up the egg form, I wanted a darkly sparkling sort of homage to the Faberge eggs I have always been fascinated by. Chandra is from Sanskrit and means “moon” referring to the moon shaped pieces in each of three panels which hold a large amber colored stone at center. In the field of each panel I have painstakingly set rows of tiny silver chain which I tarnished to achieve the dark shade. Each panel is framed with a border of gold chains, jewelry bits and amethyst colored stones. Even the tiny gold tone tassels and rope evoke the idea of a Faberge creation. The base is truly antique and has the patina only acquired with age. Stands 9” tall and 5” across.
